SnappCar fees explained: what renting really costs
On SnappCar you pay more than the day price: SnappCar also adds a service fee, all-risk insurance and mandatory roadside assistance. For a Go-Mez Toyota Aygo at €35 a day, that comes to roughly €48 to €63.50 per day, depending on your insurance profile, and fuel comes on top. Below, the SnappCar costs are explained one by one, with worked examples for a day, a weekend and a week (SnappCar rates as of September 2026).

Day price
The owner sets the day price. At Go-Mez, a Toyota Aygo costs €35 to €36 a day, including 200 or 300 free kilometres per day. You can compare them all on our cars page.
Service fee
SnappCar charges a service fee: €5.50 per day on a €35 Aygo and €10.66 per day on the €59 van (as of September 2026). See also how SnappCar prices are calculated.
Insurance
Every booking automatically includes all-risk insurance via SnappCar. This costs €5.50 to €21 per day. Where you land in that range depends on your risk profile and the type of vehicle.
Roadside assistance
Roadside assistance is mandatory: €2 per day for a car and €3.50 for a van, in the Netherlands. If you drive elsewhere in Europe, it is €6.50 (car) or €8 (van) per day. With Go-Mez, only the blue 2010 Aygo, the white 2014 Aygo and the Transit may be taken abroad.
Extra kilometres
If you go over your free kilometres, you pay the car’s per-kilometre rate plus a 10% commission. This is settled after your booking and deducted from your deposit. An example with the white 2015 Aygo (200 km per day, €0.25 per extra km): drive 260 km in one day and you pay 60 × €0.25 = €15, plus €1.50 commission. That is €16.50 in total.
Fuel
Go-Mez hands over the Aygos with a full tank. You return the car with the same fuel level as at pick-up. If you don’t, SnappCar charges the missing fuel at the average pump price published by Statistics Netherlands (CBS), plus a surcharge and a service fee. Read SnappCar’s fuel rules.
Deposit
If you keep the standard €750 excess at checkout, SnappCar asks for a €250 deposit. That is what the SnappCar app showed for both an Aygo and a van (as of September 2026); for vans, SnappCar’s own site also says it is usually €250 (page in Dutch). You always see the amount before you confirm. The deposit isn’t an extra cost: you get it back, minus any charges such as extra kilometres, missing fuel or fines. From 72 hours after your last trip you can reclaim it via your profile, as long as you have no upcoming bookings. It is then back in your account within 3 working days. Excess (own risk)
If there is damage, you pay the excess, per claim. At checkout in September 2026, for both an Aygo and a van, SnappCar showed two options:
- Standard excess: €750, no extra daily cost, with a €250 deposit.
- Reduced excess: €250, for €7.95 per day, with no deposit. SnappCar recommends this option.
SnappCar says the amount can differ per booking, depending on things like the car’s value and your age (what is the deductible). You can never waive the excess completely; it doesn’t go lower than €250 (page in Dutch). Arrange this before you pay, because it can’t be changed afterwards (lowering your deductible).
One-off: verification
Before your first booking, you need to verify your SnappCar account. You pay a one-off fee for this, but you get it back as €10 of verification credit. That credit is valid for one month and is automatically applied to your first booking.
Worked example: Toyota Aygo at €35 a day
Here is the arithmetic for an Aygo at €35 a day, such as the white 2015 one. Amounts are rounded to the cent. SnappCar shows the exact price before you pay.

If you choose the reduced excess (€250, no deposit), add €7.95 per day: €7.95 for 1 day, €15.90 for a weekend and €55.65 for 7 days. With the lowest insurance rate, 1 day then comes to €55.95.
Add the fuel
According to Go-Mez, an Aygo does roughly 20 to 22 km per litre of petrol. Statistics Netherlands (CBS), the same source SnappCar uses for missing fuel, reports an average pump price for Euro95 of €2.449 per litre (21 September 2026). At 21 km per litre:
- 150 km: 150 ÷ 21 = 7.1 litres, so about €17.50.
- 300 km: 14.3 litres, so about €35.
A weekend with 300 km in an Aygo at €35 a day therefore costs around €131 to €162 in total.
Longer rentals with a multi-day discount
The white 2014 Aygo also costs €35 a day and has a multi-day discount: for rentals longer than 3 days, you get 15% off the day price. Over 7 days, that saves €36.75 on the day price. To be upfront: the air conditioning in this car currently doesn’t work.
Worked example: Ford Transit for 1 day
The Ford Transit L3H2 costs €59 a day, including 200 km. Note that this van isn’t in Tilburg: it is based in Sprundel (Rucphen municipality). For a van, the service fee and roadside assistance are higher.

Diesel and any extra kilometres come on top (€0.25 per km plus 10% commission). Also allow for the deposit, which you reclaim afterwards.
Comparing with a rental company
A Go-Mez Aygo includes 200 or 300 km per day in the day price, but SnappCar’s fees, including the all-risk insurance, come on top. So always compare the total price for your trip, and look at the kilometres, excess and deposit too.
Cheap car hire in Tilburg: how to keep costs down
- Book early. Go-Mez has the early-booking discount switched on for every vehicle. SnappCar shows how much it saves when you book.
- Stay within your free kilometres. For long trips, pick an Aygo with 300 km per day: the blue 2010 or the white 2014.
- Refuel before you return the car. That way you only pay the pump price, without a surcharge.
- Extend in time. Running late? Request an extension before the end time. It only becomes final once the owner accepts and you have paid. Returning late costs €20 per hour (up to €250) (penalty policy), and after the end time you are not insured without an extension (terms and conditions). Traffic fines are passed on with a €20 admin fee.
- Cancel well ahead. If you cancel more than 24 hours before the start, you get your money back; after that you don’t (cancellation conditions).
- Park smart. In Tilburg city centre, on-street parking is only possible with a €25 day ticket (as of September 2026). The P+R car parks at Tilburg Universiteit and Tilburg Reeshof stations are free (Tilburg municipality, in Dutch).
